Soul Survivor

Some of the Mount-teens and the Mini-mounts are going to Soul Survivor at the end of July. They will be attending Soul Survivor in Stafford from Friday 30 July to Wednesday 4th August. Other young people from Elmwood church will be joining them and we are praying that they will all have a special time just as they did last year. Accommodation will be in tents. Mike Pilavachi, Andy Croft and Ali Martin will be there and worship leaders include Beth Croft, Tom Field and Jamie Rodwell.

Final Farewells

The Belarussian children and interpreters flew back to Minsk on Monday afternoon amid emotional scenes both at Mount Chapel and at Terminal 2. It was the fifth and final time they have spent a month with us and what a tremendous privilege it has been for the church.

When the idea was launched 5 years ago the response to the call was immediate and enthusiastic. So many have worked tirelessly to see that the venture succeeded. It has been very fulfilling to see this desire to show kindness and compassion to a specific group of children realised in our own local setting.

We pray that the physical and spiritual benefits to the children will be of eternal consequence and are thankful that the joy they brought to us was immeasurable.

Well done church.

Summer Service Schedule

For the rest of July and August there will be no evening service at 7.00pm on Sunday evening.

Evening services will resume on September 5th with First Sunday, a joint celebration for the churches in Salford, hosted in collaboration with Langworthy Community Church.

Morning services will continue as normal throughout Summer.

Concert success

The Belarus children treated a packed Mount Chapel to a very entertaining evening on Tuesday night. There were poems in Belarussian and English, songs and mimes, piano pieces performed by Zhenyia and an interpretation of the fairy tale, “Cinderella”. All the children were involved in the Cinderella play with Valeryia in the title role.

It was an emotional evening as everyone was aware that this was the final concert from these children. Much mutual appreciation was expressed both in words and song.  It has been an amazing privilege being involved in this venture and we thank God for his hand of blessing on the whole 5 year period.

Go Ape, hovercrafts, trampolines and cricket

The Belarus children have been to “Go Ape” at Rivington this week and, although Sasha was too young and Pasha’s broken wrist stopped them going on the course, the other 10 children completed the whole 3 hour session. Well done to them and to the adult volunteers who also completed the course. Sasha and Pasha were compensated with an ice cream.

On Friday the group visited the hovercraft farm in Oswaldtwistle and they had an enjoyable interesting day on the various activities. Continue reading →
